Poha is a popular dish from Central and North India. To prepare it, the rice flakes are soaked in water for a few minutes. Curry leaves and mustard seasoning are added to hot oil, followed by vegetables.

When the vegetables are soft, the rice flakes are added and garnished with peanuts, and a little grated coconut. This Poha Packet is available in different weight.

 

Tunch’s Chiwra Poha is a popular snack or breakfast dish in India made from flattened rice (poha) and mixed with spices and vegetables. Here’s a recipe for making Chiwra Poha:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of Chiwra (flattened rice/poha)
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tomato, finely chopped
  • 1 green chili, chopped
  • 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp of cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp of mustard seeds
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp of oil
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instant Poha

Instructions:

  1. Rinse the chiwra in a fine-mesh strainer under running water. Drain and set aside.
  2. Heat the oil in a pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the cumin seeds, mustard seeds, and asafoetida.
  3. When the seeds start to splutter, add the chopped onion and green chili. Saute until the onions are translucent.
  4. Add the turmeric powder, chopped tomato, salt, and sugar. Cook for 3-4 minutes or until the tomato becomes soft.
  5. Add the chiwra to the pan and mix well. Cook for 2-3 minutes or until the chiwra becomes soft and slightly crispy.
  6. Turn off the heat and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.

Your Chiwra Poha is now ready to serve! You can enjoy it as a snack or breakfast with a cup of tea or coffee.
